Kenton grew up on a farm near Wapella, Saskatchewan. He received a Bachelor of Commerce Degree (With Distinction) from the University of Saskatchewan in 1990. Kenton worked, thereafter, in various marketing positions in the province for the next three years.

Kenton received a Bachelor of Laws degree (With Distinction) from the University of Saskatchewan in 1996. He became a member of the Law Society of Saskatchewan in 1997 and practiced (with a focus on corporate and commercial as well as real estate and natural resources matters) in Saskatchewan until 2001.

From 2001 until 2006, Kenton practiced law in the Middle East with the largest law firm in the State of Kuwait through which he gained valuable experience in international transactions, banking, financing and other corporate and commercial matters.

Kenton returned to Saskatchewan in 2006 and continued to provide consultation services to a law firm in the State of Kuwait until 2008 when he joined Olive Waller Zinkhan & LLP as an associate.

Kenton is a member of the firm's corporate and commercial practice group.
